Eliciting User Preferences in Multi-Agent Meeting Scheduling Problem
نویسندگان
چکیده
Meeting Scheduling Problem (MSP) arranges meetings between a number of participants. Reaching consensus in arranging a meeting is very diffuclt and time-consuming when the number of participants is large. One efficient approach for overcoming this problem is the use of multi-agent systems. In a multi-agent system, agents are deciding on behalf of their users. They must be able to elicite their users’ preferences in an effective way. This paper focuses on the elicitation of users’ preferences. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) which is known for its ability to determine preferences is used in this research. Specifically, an adaptive preference modeling technique based on AHP is developed and implemented in a system and the initial validation results are encouraging. DOI: 10.4018/978-1-4666-2047-6.ch007

Learning User Preferences in Distributed Calendar Scheduling
Within the field of software agents, there has been increasing interest in automating the process of calendar scheduling in recent years. Calendar (or meeting) scheduling is an example of a timetabling domain that is most naturally formulated and solved as a continuous, distributed problem. Fundamentally, it involves reconciliation of a given user’s scheduling preferences with those of others t...
متن کاملMulti-agent Meeting Scheduling Using Mobile Context
Despite the use of newer and more powerful calendar and collaboration tools, the task of scheduling and rescheduling meetings is very time consuming for busy professionals, especially for highly mobile people. Research projects and commercial calendar products have worked since the early 1990s on implementing intelligent meeting organizers to automate meeting scheduling. However, automated sche...
متن کاملMeeting Scheduling with Multi Agent Systems: Design and Implementation
In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a distributed multi agent meeting scheduling system. The system includes two types of agents: personal agent, one for each user, to negotiate on behalf of its owner, and a location agent to arrange suitable meeting rooms for the meetings. Personal agents have their own calendar and preferences. Invitees are classified as either importan...
متن کاملAn Architecture for Multi-agent Negotiation Using Private Preferences in a Meeting Scheduler
We present an architecture for multi-agent negotiation for implementing a distributed meeting scheduler. In the scheduling system, an agent is assigned to an user who plans private schedules and events. An agent negotiates with other agents about making an public schedule by referring user's private schedules and preferences. The multi-agent negotiation we proposed here facilitates reaching an ...
متن کاملLearning Calendar Scheduling Preferences in Hierarchical Organizations
There has been increasing interest in automating calendar scheduling processes, and in this context, eliciting and reasoning about the user’s scheduling preferences and habits play major roles in finding optimal solutions. In this paper, we present work aimed at learning a user’s time preference for scheduling a meeting. We adopt a passive machine learning approach that observes the user engagi...
